First Annual Triple C Bike Ride

7AM May 11th 2013

Ride

Please join us for a rollicking day of riding and fun on the first annual Colorado Coal Century or "Triple C" Bike Ride.  Passionate Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing are joining forces with Infinitus PIE, Golden Bear Bikes, and our other sponsors to create this one of a kind early season century trainer to get cyclists ready for summer riding season and raise money for our Rotary Club and the Second Wind Fund of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, a critical teen suicide prevention program.

Causes

The Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing is sponsoring this ride to raise funds for the Second Wind Fund of Boulder County (www.swfbc.org) and our charitable causes including our international youth exchange program, summer sponsorship of kids in the Young Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program (http://www.rmryla.org/) and the annual Santa Eddy Christmas party with Broomfield County Health and Human Services. We recognize that mental health issues need special attention in our community and are committed as a club to providing special support for these programs in Broomfield County.

Second Wind Fund of Boulder County is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free counseling services to at risk youth in Boulder County.  This event is also designed as a remembrance of those we’ve lost to suicide and a celebration of all who choose life!

Route

The carefully planned Triple C ride is an early season trainer for the century ride enthusiast. Our scenic route was carefully selected with the help of some avid cyclists and one that mirrors the historic northern Colorado coal seam that runs from Marshall in the southwest to the Dacono, Frederick Firestone townships in the northeast.

It is a 104.3 mile ride, has a relatively low 2185 feet of elevation gain. Starting at Infinitus PIE in Broomfield, we head northeast and meander through beautiful farm country to the tri cities of Dacono, Frederick and Firestone.  There we swing back through Berthoud, Longmont, Niwot, Gunbarrel, Boulder, Marshall, Superior, ride the "Mini Wall” and head back to Infinitus PIE for tasty post ride iPIE’s, beers, and festivities. See the route map at http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/182449786 for more detailed information.

Why Triple C?

We want to remember the historic northern Colorado coal seam while honoring the miners and mining companies that developed our area.  King Coal has always and continues to play a critical role in all aspects of the American economy and the long forgotten Northern Colorado Coal seam was the early lynchpin of development for the northwest Denver metropolitan area.  We want to provide a context for constructive conversation about America and her energy future.

Ride Details

The first annual Triple C rain or shine ride is a non supported ride; there will not be any official aid stations.  We have made arrangements for riders to use facilities with businesses along the route and will be running two sag vehicles and support riders along the route.  There is a 50 rider limit.

The ride starts at iPIE, 245 Nickel Street in Broomfield at 7 AM on May 11th and has a $65 entry fee.

All riders receive a commemorative first annual Triple C shirt, a tasty Infinitus PIE at the end of the ride, and the knowledge that they helped two outstanding organizations making a substantial difference in our communities.

Infinitus PIE, Golden Bear, the Second Wind Fund of Boulder County and the Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing are our current sponsors. More to follow.
