Topic: BPD and it's new Chief Hempelmann will be giving us an update on her new role as Chief of Police and update on the Broomfield Police Department in 2023. 

Bio: Enea Hempelmann began her career with the Broomfield Police Department (BPD) in January 1997. She was officially sworn into office as Chief of Police on January 12, 2022.

Chief Hempelmann was born in Italy, and moved to the United States with her parents and siblings when she was a child. Her family, culture, and heritage remain important aspects of her daily life. Chief Hempelmann has three daughters, and her husband also works in law enforcement.

During her 26 years with Broomfield, Chief Hempelmann has worked her way through the ranks serving as a Sergeant, Commander, and Deputy Chief. She has overseen Patrol, Investigations, Professional Standards, Community Affairs, and Special Operations.

Chief Hempelmann has a Bachelor’s Degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and graduated with honors from the Northwestern University School for Police and Command Staff. In August 2021, she attended the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) program through the Senior Management Institute for Police.

Chief Hempelmann is proud to serve the Broomfield Police Department and the Broomfield community as Chief of Police and Sheriff. She, along with her dedicated staff, are committed to achieving excellence in everything BPD does with the continued implementation of modern day policing through new technology, training, and enhanced recruitment.
