On December 1st, members of the Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing began a busy week throwing their annual Christmas bash for children and senior citizens in our Broomfield Community. San...ta took a special break from his toy making with the elves at his North Pole workshop to help the Rotarians get an early start on the Christmas celebration. With his support and participation, again this year we visited children and seniors over a three-day period.

As is the annual tradition, the Rotarians hosted a special event Thursday evening for the foster families served by Broomfield’s Health and Human Services (HHS). Each of the children had a visit with Santa, and afterwards one could see twinkles in their eyes, except for a tear here and there from the wee little ones. After the Santa visit, the families enjoyed pizza while the kids were active playing games and receiving a sack of candy including a special gift certificate. Miss Heidi Thomas came with dancers from the Dance Arts Studio to provide the evening’s entertainment. And for the finale, children were invited to join the dancers and test their dancing skills. It was a great evening for all.

Santa visited the Salvation Army after-school program where, to wonderment in the eyes of the little ones, sacks of candy were distributed to the children. In addition, Santa and the Rotarians handed out gifts provided by F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Broomfield to their program participants.

Finally, the Rotarians and Santa came away with many fond memories of raising spirits by singing Christmas Carols with the seniors at the Broomfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The Rotarians send out a big “Thank You” to financial donors for their generous contributions, to “Hammond’s Candies” for the donation of their signature candy canes, and to Jerry Clark for making and donating small wooden cars that were included in the sacks of goodies.

...and thanks to all Rotarians at Broomfield Crossing for making this year so successful.
